If I’m being realistic about myself, my biggest area of OCD is in how the dishwasher is loaded. I get it from my father, so I’m not to blame. I love to rearrange the dishes in the dishwasher to make everything fit better and usually end up with more space in the dishwasher to put dishes (so my OCD is rewarded). As I thought about this I began to wonder, are there “how to” posts on loading a dishwasher? So I got on-line and checked it out.
Did you know there’s not only organizing posts but even a “wikiHow” article on organizing a dishwasher? I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I’ll admit I was. And they were pretty helpful too… Not that it changed my way of loading the dishwasher (cuz let’s be honest, it’s the best way), but it had some pretty good ideas.
Here’s one handy tip that has to do with the dishwasher, but not the loading of it (Freebie!). If you have a garbage disposal, run it before running the dishwasher. The disposal and the dishwasher drain into the same pipe and running the garbage disposal reduces the chance of the pipe getting clogged.
Below are just a couple of the links provided to help people when loading a dishwasher (and they work for all types of dishwashers).

Now, on to the great loading-utensils-into-the-dishwasher debate: business side up, business side down, or mixed? Thoughts?
